my husband’s blog
December 30, 2008

Joe finally started his own blog back in November.
I can count on my hand the number of writers that I truly enjoy reading and my husband most definitely tops the list.
For a mix of theology, politics, book reviews, cultural commentary and potent quotables- make your way over to:
Enjoy!
why do I want friends in every profession?…

…because I benefit from their free services!
My best friend, Becky, is a dental hygienist.
Becky and I have been best friends for almost 27 years.
We are close enough that we didn’t have to spend a lot of time catching up during our Christmas break, maybe just an hour or so.
We focused on the important stuff- a free teeth cleaning for me and Joe!
what pregnancy looks like in the rigney house
December 20, 2008
Needless to say, we were very surprised with our first positive pregnancy test – we both needed a little more confirmation…
(Yes, I did take a picture of this)
After twenty minutes of crying, freaking out just a tad, praying, Joe reading and re-reading the pregnancy test pamphlet, laughing, and utter shock–Joe headed to Target to buy stock in some digital pregnancy tests!
Little plus sign tests weren’t good enough for us and they just made me think of math. We needed the word “PREGNANT” to be spelled out for us in plain English! Joe was even hoping to find a test that would sound an alarm if we were pregnant. Target was all sold out.
The digital home pregnancy test confirmed what we had been hoping for…

I bought Joe a little bib that says “I Love Daddy” the day our doctor called and confirmed our pregnancy. I made Joe put it on, but deep down I know he wanted to…

These are the little onesies that I made for our families to tell them that we were pregnant. Some said “Baby Rig is on the way”, etc. The one for my mom said “Baby Rig loves Sassy”- yes, my mom will be called “Sassy” and Joe’s mom will be called “GiGi”- our baby will have some pretty hip grandmas!

Papa and Sassy after receiving their gifts…

Our baby’s most favorite cousin, Colin Ryan…
(Can you tell that he is excited to meet little Rig?)

We couldn’t love this little guy more!
we’re having a baby!

Praise God from whom all blessings flow…
We are so excited to share with you the wonderful news of our little baby! We couldn’t be more grateful for this gift!
Joe and I have been praying and asking the Lord for children for the past two years. In the midst of waiting, two years felt like ten, but God in his gracious timing and faithfulness blessed us with the news of our little one in October -on our three year wedding anniversary- it was the best anniversary gift we could have asked for!
I am currently 12 weeks pregnant and am due the 4th of July! We had an early ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and have since heard the heartbeat twice. We have been blessed with wonderful visits to the doctor and continue to pray for a healthy pregnancy.
Thank you for sharing in our joy! We truly feel so excited, humbled, nervous, and grateful for the privilege of parenting this child. We welcome your prayers and any helpful advice you have to offer!
One of the main reasons for this blog is to help our baby’s grandparents–and hopefully you–stay connected with our lives across the many, many miles with stories and pictures.
We do hope you will come along for the ride…
