happy 6 month birthday, peter!

A day or so after we brought Peter home from the hospital, I remember thinking how crazy it was that we were starting all over again with another baby. All the milestones, all over again. I distinctly remember thinking how we would have to start feeding Peter solids, and as I held my three day old, I just knew there was no way that day would ever come – six months is just too old.
But much to my disbelief, this little guy is now half-way to turning one! And can I just indulge myself in a little Mommy Gushing for a brief second?
I am absolutely, positively nuts over this kid. He turns me into a giant puddle of mush. He is such a distraction. I will be washing the dishes while he watches from his highchair, and the next thing I know, he has me dancing on my head and talking in the most ridiculous voices just to get a laugh out of him. I love him more than I ever thought possible.
Some things for us to remember about our Peter at six months…
- Peter is 27.6 inches long (80th %), 17.12 lbs (45th %), and his head measures 45.6 inches (88th%)
- We started Peter on solids. We skipped right over the cereals and went straight to avocado and banana. Next up is sweet potato and winter squash. We also started him on a few Puffs to practice grasping.
- He is a very active baby. Changing his diaper feels like a 15-minute workout, it’s like a wrestling match and we usually lose.
- He rolls and rolls and rolls. Backwards and forwards, all over the living room floor.
- He loves to prop up on all fours and rock back and forth, he is so close to crawling and has been scooting backwards for a week or so.
- He has been enjoying his crib more and more.
- He prefers to be standing or bouncing all of the time, which makes his walker very helpful.
- His pediatrician said that he is very strong and very, very busy, her exact words were, “He’s gonna want to see the world!”
- His reflux has improved by leaps and bounds and he’s no longer on medication.
- He loves to bury his little head in our neck and snuggle.
- He is extremely ticklish, a trait we take full advantage of!
- He dropped his third nap and now takes two two-hour naps a day and is in bed by 6:30 pm.
- His personality is very laid back and joyful, but when he really wants something- everyone knows about it.
- His favorite person in the world right now is his big brother. Watching them laugh and play together makes me stop whatever I’m doing, no matter how important, and just watch them. It’s the best.
Happy 6 months, baby boy! You are among one of the greatest gifts God has ever given to us.

First, it’s hard to believe he was 6-week’s old when I first met him. Second, pictures just don’t do that little guy justice.
Peter William, Papa and Sassy love you so much. Happy 6 month birthday!
Oh my word, LOVE HIM! I can’t believe 6 months have gone by!
“He’s gonna want to see the world.”
May I suggest he begin with Oxford?
Busy, busy….means Mama will be busy, busy too – in the best of ways. Love the first avocado pic especially – those EYES!
