The Great Minnesota Get-Together!

September 4, 2012

Like years past (2009, 2010, 2011) we packed up the family and headed to the Minnesota State Fair to celebrate the end of summer.  It’s been a long-standing favorite Minnesotan tradition of ours.

Minnesota has the second largest fair in the country, second only to Texas.  And for two born-and-raised Texans who couldn’t imagine missing the fair each August, it seems ironic that neither Joe or myself have ever been to the one in Texas.

This year, we got to bring Sam and Peter’s Gigi along!  We had a big time showing her around and filling up on some of our favorite Fair goodies.  This year was especially memorable since Sam is now old enough to really enjoy the rides and animals.  He also didn’t complain about the cookies, roasted corn, doughnuts, pizza, and turkey legs we consumed.  And seeing a tiny dog balance itself in a hand-stand? The cherry on top!

‘Till next year…

Seeing that bucket of sweet Martha’s cookies makes my mouth water! This is the first of many years we didn’t make it to the fair. :(
Looks like you had a great time!

Hi! I was going to leave a comment on this post…

… but I wasn’t sure if you’d see it since the post is a couple years old.
Anyway, I LOVE your blog. I spent a lot of time looking through many of your posts last night. Thanks for all the fun, creative, and inspiring ideas! I just have a question about the quilted ABCs you made for your son. After he has played with them for a couple years, how have they held up? Is there anything you would go back and do differently? I am definitely going to make these for my daughter for Christmas and I just thought it might be wise to ask if there are any changes you’d make.
    Thank you so much!
